Ethics (done over-the-top for rhetorical and theraputic value)

I may not be a student of the modern code of conduct, but isn't it improper to insult a former significant other publicly? I understand that stress is involved, but is no one expected to hold their tounges any longer? Am I the last one left with any propriety?

I'm totally with you on this one. People can be really rude sometimes. I think it's improper to insult anyone publicly--public criticism might be okay if there's a good reason to do it that way instead of privately, but that's even less okay for former significant others, in my mind.

Which is not to say I don't put my foot in my mouth sometimes, of course. But at least I have a sense of what's appropriate, even if I sometimes falter from it.

No, Dan, it wasn't you. I was insulted, but by someone who shall remain nameless. As I said, I don't insult publicly.
