People tell me that Sydney has one of the better New Year's Eve fireworks shows. It did not fail to deliver.

I got distracted by alcohol 100 meters from my bed last night and now have a headache. Serves me right.

Perhaps will do a summary of my 2006 when I am not paying $1 for 15 minutes of internet time.

Ahhh, the good ol' Coathanger. It WAS the 75th anniversary, so they had better have done well, even though they stuck a coathanger on the Coathanger...

I suppose it's better than last years (or was it the year before?) when they decided it was Just The Thing to stick an enormous Streets symbol on the Bridge. Sure, they said it was a symbol of love and community, or some rot, but it LOOKED like a giant icecream advertisement. I hope they were paid for it.

Meeting up with you next Sunday; is there anything you especially want to do or see, or do you want to walk around while I make up a giant pack of lies about the history and geography of Sydney that regularly devolves into rip-offs of The Explorers and My Stories? I'm not bothering to try and claim I can tell you the truth in any way, shape or form, though my storytelling will probably encounter it at some point.

I found the whole coathanger thing rather entertaining, though I had to get someone to explain to me that the bridge is nickname the Coathanger. At first I figured it was just some random, quirky Australian humor. =) I could see three or four sets of the regular fireworks, and then they came off the bridge, and then they came off the buildings behind me. It was snazzy.

I don't have anything in particular in mind to see and/or do. I'm perfectly happy walking around with you making up a giant pack of lies. I'm very unpicky about it, so whatever sounds good to you is just fine with me.

Yes, I can see how it might seem weird to someone not in the know. They send off fireworks right down the harbour and up the river - it really is quite spectacular to watch them go off.

Giant pack of lies it is. Meet at Central Station? *grins* Near Hungry Jacks is both traditional and fairly easy to spot people. What sort of time suits you? It'd have to be after 10am to let me get out bed and into the city.

Grr argh. The stupid computer that I'm using is being obnoxious and not letting me post anything. Let's try this again.

10:30am sounds fine to me. I don't get back into Sydney until 12:30am that morning, so 10:30 gives me plenty of time to get some sleep and stuff. It's hard to sleep late in a hostel, but I can at least lie in bed and glare at everyone who comes and goes with many clangings and bangings.

I'm not sure how I'll recognize you. I was able to recognize Rach in Christchurch because I'd seen pictures before, but I don't think I've ever seen any pictures of you. Perhaps you should wear a silly hat? If nothing else, it would be funny. =)
