A nature-walk, hmm? Being there with friends was sort of nice, actually. In this kind of system, it seemed like nothing really could be different. Sure, he wasn't supposed to exist. What of it? He was here with Taranis and Douwe and certainly breathing. Maybe he should practice his glum face? Making one as he watched the trees it didn't turn out so ( Read more... )

"Hello, Sei."

Taranis turned to glance at Sei and the smokie that was lingering behind him. Hadn't that been Jory's? He remembered seeing it once or twice, and he believed that he had been told it liked to pounce on people when they weren't looking. However, since he had been there, the only thing to pounce on him had been the kitten that seemed to like clawing at his scalp and that seemed like ages ago.

He raised an eyebrow, casting a doubtful look at the smokie. Had it's name been Arden? He couldn't remember. "You did mean the smokie, correct? Because I really have no desire to hold onto it for any reason whatsoever. It looks like it bites and I don't know where its teeth or it's claws have been."

Damn Smokie. Figures that Jory would manage to keep it around to annoy everyone here. "In food, I would think. He seems to think he's a Savage for some reason."

Walking with people was nice. She figured she should invite anyone who wanted to go with, get them used to the forest and what it could do. Assassins almost seemed scared of it before, since it wasn't sand, but perhaps they've adjusted enough that they'd go for it?

"Aw, don't be such a pussy about it, Taranis." Sei kicked at the dirt, turning back to the smokie. It gave him a beady-eyed, dead stare. He stuck out its tongue.

The smokie, in turn, leapt on his back. Something about cute animals, right...? It darted into the tree, and Sei was left looking alarmed and a little peevished. "He's really quite special."

'In food,' Douwe had said. But who honestly knew that those things tried to consume, anyway? For all he knew, it could bite and the wound would be infected or... or something.

"It's a maniac," Taranis protested, watching it hop onto Sei's back. "And if it's trying to be cute, I think it's failing."

Okay, no, it wasn't. The smokie was cute, unfortunately, and was doing a very good job of looking it from where it was perched. Unfortunately for him, he liked most cute things, providing they weren't vicious like that stupid kitten. He sighed, studying it again.

"So about this walk..." Anything to distract him from the cuteness that was the smokie.

It ate everything from apples to dildos!

"He takes after his namesake," Douwe commented, with a slight grin.

"Right." She wondered if she should take a different path than usual, but figured it was safer than sorry. And this one had the fun tree! "This way, please."

"And to your left," Sei began chipperly, shooting Arden a thumbs-up. He could tell the smokie was on its way to earning Taranis' heart, which meant Sei might be able to easily pawn it off on the fellow Feltzen at a certain point. "We find ourselves the wonderful plant-life known as trees. Covered in bark, they are really fucking tall, and really fucking hard to punch and get a reflex out of. Known to laugh at humans for their idle chatter, trees have a complex social system involving roots, birds, pollen, and air-borne sexual contact -"

The smokie took after the actual Arden? Taranis resisted the urge to shudder. He didn't want to think about the implications of that statement. Instead, he sighed and followed after Douwe, glancing back only enough to give Sei a mock-glare with his good eye for his commentary. Of course, given the fact that he was glaring with the eyepatch and everything, it might seem more hostile than he had intended.

"Sei? We know what trees are."

"Pretty good description, though. Especially the laughter part." Yes, much easier to walk through now than it was with Lilith. That was a relief.

"Don't be such a spoil-sport. Look, your friend you're neglecting's watching you." Indeed, Arden was prowling through the trees at an even clip with Taranis, as Sei jogged up to Douwe, elbowing her in the side. "Cyclops over there has little sense of humour, as I'm sure you can see."

Why in Freya's name was that damned smokie following him?

"Lovely..." he muttered, catching up to the others just in time to hear the cyclops remark. "Sei, for the last time. I'm not a cyclops."

"I'm not sure anyone could have a sense of humor with the Smokie after him. Do you have an apple, Taranis?" Food generally worked, she remembered, but she never really planned to see Jory and rarely had food on her. Luckily, whatever taint she had from hunting Smokies from ten to sixteen held on and kept Arden at a semi-far distance from her on a regular basis.

In fact now that Douwe and Taranis were close, Arden disappeared into the foliage. Sei folded both his hands behind his head, grinning.

The day was nice, chilly, but nice. The jackets he'd gotten them from Caspar fit decently, and the snow was still on the melt at least - nice! (Of course, thinking about Sienna and how she was writing him now -- it helped a boy stay on the up and up of the mood pool, right?)

Getting on Taranis' nerves, of course, was one of Sei's old-time pleasures, and getting to rekindle it just for an afternoon was turning out quite fabulous. "You're just too good to be true~" He began, winking at Douwe. "Can't take my eyes off of you~"

Taranis took no more notice of the smokie, intent, instead, on Sei's singing. Before, he knew he would have gotten annoyed with it. He'd get rather angry and threatten to throw things. In truth, he missed it. He didn't think Sei had sung once since they had gotten here. Of course, he'd be damned if he let Sei know that.

So, for the sake of playing along, he groaned a bit. "Sei..."

It was a pity Douwe didn't know the song, or she'd join in with her own crappy singing voice! Instead, she hummed, trying to match the tune as best she could.
