a little while ago joe simmonds sent me a 'livejournal nudge', and at the time i had nothing to update about, and it seemed as though i hadn't for a while, i'm guessing hence the 'nudge

I've seen that and it had a major effect on me! Its just so depressing though, as I've been trying really hard to save power and my family only buy local fruit and veg produce but it still doesn't matter because these big companies have to try and do something to save the planet but they just don't care!
yeah i know, that's why i'm up for going on the march. it's on november 4th, a saturday at like noon. but after the macrh which probably be like i dunno 2 horus maybe or however long (i have a leaflety and schedule for it) we could just have a day in london. plus, am totally planting loads of trees!
i would march with you comrade! but im watching liverpool. and i would also like to share a nostalgic moment with you about when cinema prices were a measily 3.50 at the odeon...
Not to be a cynic, but wasn't Al Gore Vice President of America for nearly a decade? So can't he help initiate laws or rules or something practically worldwide? Other than making a film about it? Not to put a downer on the help that documentaries do, but it would probably be more effective to use his influence to persuade, as Zoe said, major corporations to be envrionmentally friendly through legal methods, rather than going on MTV to talk about global warming (and curry loads of young voters for the next election). He was good though, even though he is homophobic and thinks homosexuality is wrong. And was against making gay marriage legal.
I will try and come to the march though. Even though I don't like him.
he's been doing talks and speechs and presentations on the topic all over the world, and those who've seen those were persuaded, and he was advised to make a film to get his message out to a wider audience. and the march/issue isn't really about whether you like him or not as it's about a threat to the world. when did he go on mtv? plus he's not going to be at the march i dont think.. it's other people. it was just linked to the film, and i heard about it.
He went on MTV in like August I think, I saw him on it, briefly. But his smile annoyed me.
I don't mean he isn't pro-active, I mean it would be more pro-active to make recycling compulsory or stop major companies using non-recycleable materials (for example cereal boxes could either not be laminated or in just the plastic bag to mean less mass) or excessive packaging. Or limiting the amount of cars per person or their efficiency, or persuading the government to give more funding to making electric cars cheaper. And then there is deforestation and all that jazz. It's like the smoking ban in New York would be a more considerate factor in making people quit (or reduce) than pointing out that you will all die of lung cancer.
OK, I've lost track, but I know what I mean. Sort of.
yeah i know what u mean, but going on mtv would perhaps make the poin to a larger audience, and most teenagers watch mtv, or if they dont regularly flick through the digi-channels. so he would therefore get across to one of the more considerable groups - the teenagers. as if you have the teenagers on your side then you are going to get a lot more support - notice. also, i agree that would be more effective, but you've got to spread the message before-hand so your new policies (cereal/smoking etc) won't be immediately dismissed by the public who haven't been all that aware of the problem you're trying to illustrate. plus, shouldn't the president be doing this? he can't pass laws if he's not in the cabinet or president, and no-one in the top spot or any of his cronies want to change anything about america or admit that thier country is the main problem.
