who was the story-teller?
It was the Sunny's Klabautermann! :)

Or maybe they don’t come across many Klabautermann
Facepalms.
All right so my mind centers a little on the guys and it may sometimes junk this-n-that when reading...BUT I GET IT NOW!! :D hahaha *completeididot*
But srsly thanks, I'm hungarian and we don't have a word like that(seeing that english uses the original german name) we simply call them kobold so I had no idea what it is and I don't think I payed much attention to it when actually reading the fic D: but well...you learn something new every day xD

I actually didn't know what a Klabautermann was either before I read OP. I mean, I was familiar with kobold from other mythologies, but Klabautermann seems to be a specific form of kobold?
If I can ask, do you read Hungarian scans of the manga? Do they use kobold instead of Klabautermann to refer to the spirit of Merry and Sunny?

I love how this two-shot was not at all about Zoro and Sanji discovering each other's weaknesses but instead stumbling upon the source of their strengths. And honestly I don't think there was a better way to show this than how you compared the parts of Sanji's brittle, malnourished body to weapons, and a source of blazing fire and parchment to tattoo faith onto himself. It's brilliant, I can't even tell you how brilliant that is. It just screams so loud, it felt like Sanji screaming his strengths out to the world, that his experience on that rock forged the devil in his blood and bones, as you so awesomely put it ( ... )

I love how this two-shot was not at all about Zoro and Sanji discovering each other's weaknesses but instead stumbling upon the source of their strengths.Yes! This is partly because when I asked Zoro what his weakness was, he just slowly raised an eyebrow at me, and when I asked Sanji, his predictable response was BEAUTIFUL WOMEN. Haha. No, but seriously, we go in knowing their soft spots if not their weaknesses (Kuina for Zoro, fear of starvation for Sanji), and we also know how much they've grown despite--or because of--those soft spots, so that's what I wanted to explore. Zoro grows because of his promise, and Sanji grows because of his gratitude. Yush ( ... )

.... oh dear god. The image of Sanji sinking into the rock was horrific. D: Thank goodness Zoro was there to - figuratively and literally - pull him out of it.
And the image of Zoro, watching little Sanji struggle... seeing him scream himself hoarse after the ship, and beat his hands against the ground... that being the thing that broke him... to go after the ship and futilely yank on the anchor chain to pull it back... Very powerful stuff, that. Zoro ( ... )

I can't really imagine how their first kiss would go down. Maybe something like:
"COME ON. WE'RE MAN ENOUGH TO DO THIS."
"RIGHT. WHO'S AFRAID OF KISSING. NOT ME."
"I BET I'M MORE NOT-AFRAID THAN YOU."
"PROVE IT."
And then they accidentally knock each other's teeth out.
Yosh, it was the Sunny! The Sunny is privy to all their secrets.... it's always watching. Nowhere on board is safe. >_>
This part was hard for me to really pull together, but it was definitely worth it for lovely comments such as yours. Thank you!!

I realize that my take on the Zoro/Sanji pairing is almost indistinguishable from gen, so I'm sorry for that too! But as I said to aevium above, it's because I think they're actually really romantic just the way they are, and I can't see them acting any other way towards each other-- romance a la Zoro and Sanji, totally vitriolic and not to be emulated XD But I'm glad it worked ok for you here!
About incorporating the entity encountered by Lola's crew-- it's really just because I agonize over that sort of thing/take fic too seriously. I feel like I have to put on some serious camo-gear and go scouting for little nooks and crannies in the OP world in which I can plausibly set the fic. But that's fun too, because the OP world is so rich! :D
LIFE WILL BE FINE. Ahhh, I still owe you a message! Sorry about that! I'll shoot you one as soon as I can. I hope you've ( ... )
