One Was a Soldier Part II - the spoilery half of the review

May 26, 2011 22:38

This post contains spoilers for the entire book up to and including the last sentence, as well as some speculation about the future. Please don't read this if you haven't read the book and ever have any intention of doing so, which I obviously recommend (though you should read the series in order - trust me). This post is mostly for txduck :)

You have been warned *ominous laugh* )

I'd also read the homecoming drive in the preview, but fortuantely, I only had to wait a couple weeks to see what happened next. It felt much longer, though!

I totally had the same reaction of hmmm, I'm nearly halfway through and no one's dead yet... I even flipped to the front cover to make sure it was still referred to as a "Clare Fergusson/Russ Van Alstyne Mystery" ;) But I think the fact that the primary focus was on the vets' post-traumatic issues and readjustment really worked well.

I'm with you; I hope she doesn't skip over too much of the pregnancy. I guess the books generally do tend to have several months in between, but there was only like a month and a half in between To Darkness and to Death and All Mortal Flesh. We'll see ( ... )
