The Throne of Fire by Rick Riordan

I spent yesterday afternoon at Borders, soaking up the free air-conditioning and finishing The Throne of Fire, the second book in Rick Riordan's Kane Chronicles. The background music was dreadful, but I drowned it out with one of the Harry Potter soundtracks on my iPod. I even got a free iced raspberry-white chocolate mocha sample while reading! I'll have to tell my daughter about your review, I got the book for her the other day and she's been putting off reading it... although she did say today she thought she would re read the first book first to get the story fresh in her mind before starting the sequel.

I've been keeping myself entertained with a mystery  series i ran across the other day (just started the second book)... But I'm looking forward to 'heat rises'. I read the first chapter over at abc.com but now I want more *G*

Ooh, I don't know if I'd realized that the first chapter of Heat Rises is posted! Most exciting! But yeah, I wish they'd publish it even a few weeks earlier to tide us over until the new season starts. There's just not nearly enough Castle in my life right now!

Hope your daughter will enjoy the book when she reads it :) And I agree that it makes sense to re-read the first book if she has it; there were definitely times when I would have liked to go back to it and check on things I don't remember so well after a year of reading other stuff...

Oooh, I have The Throne of Fire but have not had (and will not have for a while) the leisure to read it. Good to know that it sounds like everything I had hoped for in a second book.

Goes back to trying to get through the usual busyness that is July, the only month I am employed outside the home. I teach swimming in the mornings. In cold water. Sucks the energy right out of me, and I keep falling asleep on what I try to read!

Hmm...after the hottest day of the year, when it's still miserably warm even at 1:15 (also, wow, I really should go to sleep now), cold water actually sounds kind of nice. But in reality, I'm sure it's much less pleasant, and I probably wouldn't even be brave enough to jump in, especially in the mornings.

Best of luck with the teaching, and I hope you'll enjoy the book whenever you do have a chance to read it :)
