On Friday night/Saturday morning, we went to the half-past midnight showing of the final Harry Potter movie. These are my thoughts and reactions, chock full o' spoilers and gratuitous italics...
My favourite bit was the Snape's-memories bit. I was disappointed they didn't show James being a dick to him, though. I can't remember if it happened in the books, but I always imagined it happening.
Also quite liked Neville's completely uncool jumper, and EW to long hair.
Wasn't keen on Malfoy neither being a baddie nor misunderstood in the film - seems like he was just a coward? Don't know if it was like that in the books or not (can't remember), but I DID like the fact Harry nodded to his Mum to say he was still alive. In fact, this whole shebang just confirmed to me that HP is about the love of a mother for her offspring...
Psst - on the off chance that you get this in the next oh say twenty minutes (before 7:00 Sunday p.m) do I care at all if I see it in 3-D or non, given our similar feelings on 3-D? I am on the bus back from the farm and toying with running straight to the theatre to catch a show. There is a 2-D one at a reasonable hour I might make. Without the nausea bit, but with the same lack of love for 3-D, do you think I'd regret it if I go to the 2-D as I was planning?
I'm so sorry I didn't get this till just now, but I definitely don't think you'd regret going to the 2D version. If you have the option, I don't really think there's much point in paying extra for 3D. If you did go, I'd love to hear what you thought :) Love and miss you!
Thanks, I chanced it, and it was fine if unnecessary. 3-D still looks super weird to me and brings no extra joy.
I found it a bit of let-down. Not really the movie's fault - that's indeed mostly what happens in the second half of the book, but it was drained of a lot of the meaning. Though the extra scene where Harry told Hermione and Ron about Voledmort & Hermione offered to come with him was poignant and didn't annoy me.
Miss you too & lots of love. It's been loonybats here. What about w/ you?
