Little cat went missing for a day. When she came back, she was missing a good 3 inches from her tail. So we took her to the vet and they shaved her tail, filed down her tailbone some more, and sewed skin over the end of her tail. then they put one of those collars on her so she cant bite it. she looks like an overgrown rat.

I hope she stays sweet even when the collar comes off. Maybe you should keep it around as both a sedative and diet aid.
