I was a very lucky Yuletider this year. I got piles of creepy, creepy fic. I got two Quills fics from my Yulesanta, which are both utterly delicious. Filled with messed up Christianity (oh, so much mucked up Christianity; it's gorgeous!), a ghostly Marquis, and the seduction of the Abbé. So, soooo fantastic.

OHHHH CHESTOMANCI RECS. I am so excited! And it's so nice when I meet fandom people in RL - especially ones who're all about LJ fandom and Yuletide and stuff. :)

I get a little freaked out by meeting RL people who happened to be fandomish. I'm so tempted to go through your fic and try to figure you out, like I do when I read an author's entire output in a fandom and think I've got their fic preferences down, which feels very invasive. It's like this privacy thing, where fandom is a private space where you can be more yourself and less recognisable at the same time, and when they overlap it's *weird*. And, you know, there's the other thing, where I've always been kinkier/weirder/angstier than most fandom dabblers. I learnt the associated lesson when I started talking about slash to a small-town Irish girl who wrote Avril Lavigne/her bassist or something, and *lost all my Irish friends in an afternoon*. And I've got a uni friend who is the Rose/Ten and Hermione/Ron type, and although she's incredibly polite I think I freaked her out a little, and that was without saying much except Master/Doctor (and probably not how their woobly love was so dysfunctional and abusive
