[This is not a New Feather. No, not really. He's already well settled in and decided that even with the free show he saw in the plaza earlier, he doesn't particularly care for this place. At least the library provides some good reading, which is where he can be found for most of the day, or later at home if anyone decides to bother him there. He ( Read more... )

Well, there's the barracks. People go there to train, if you're into that sort of thing.

No, not really. You can only incinerate a training dummy so many times before it's all the same.

Well, people also gather there to spar with each other. I agree about the dummies, but the amount of skills around here can provide some good variety.

What do you like to do, then?

Hmm, perhaps. Even so, I'm more of the exploration type. I'd rather be put up against a good monster than deal with amateurs.

Oh, you remembered~ Yes, that's me.

It wasn't hard to. [You had the sound of an attractive girl, after all.] So besides talking to people, how do you keep yourself occupied?

[Porom's already starting to settle into a very set schedule, clinging to the stability that deciding what to do and when to do it and then getting it done offers. When Palom returns home it is, apparently, 'reread the guide very carefully for about the third time' time and she is seated in the living room and reading. She responds without looking up when she hears the door.]

Palom? Welcome home.

Thanks. [He's carrying a small stack of books with him. Being the boring sibling he is, he drops the books, rather loudly, next to the chair before picking one up and leafing through it. Loudly.]

[She concentrates harder on the guide, reading and rereading one part in particular before she finally closing the journal and looking up.]

This place has its' own magic.

[He doesn't look up from leafing through his book.]

The filial magic, right. I'll probably give it a try.

Well, the forests are nice to explore, if you're looking for something to do. Just watch out for giant wolves.

A giant wolf, you say? Someone mentioned something like that when I first arrived.

Yes, she's very intelligent, unlike most monsters. It's best to be careful, but the forest is pretty nice otherwise.

I've encountered intelligent monsters before. But if she needs dealt with, I'll have to see about finding some allies.

[Sometime after Rydia spoke with him, Kain is attempting to not be as much of an ass. Let's see how long THAT lasts.]

...I'm afraid all I can recommend is training.

[Not long, likely, since it's Palom.]

My type of training tends to involve a lot of reading, which I'm already doing.

Then that's all there is, aside from... [Ok, no, not discussing things he doess in the cave with Rydia with Palom. Who he's still trying to wrap his head around being old enough to even know of such things.] ...Never mind. It can be quite dull between experiments, but once you're used to life here, you'll welcome the dull moments.

Aside from what? [The other parts don't concern him.]
