[The clinking doesn't last very long, the ice melting quickly in his hand. He laughs a bit and pours the drink out, the splash of liquid against the heavy concrete under his feet.]
Remus to start. Maybe you haven't caught on yet and he'd probably jinx me for telling you, but you make him happy. Not to mention, Ben.
[There's a short pause as he thinks. He doesn't want to torture Edgeworth with this or make him think this is a plea for his affection either. Despite their history, things are different in the City and things are different back home now too. False hope had never done him any good in the past and it wouldn't here.]

[He listens, wondering if he could refreeze the liquid from where he was. Probably not. It hadn't worked over the comms the last time he'd tried. Shame.]
[The comment draws his attention back to the real world--or as close to a real world as they've been in since their arrival. As usual, he has to deny anything beyond basic convenience.]
Ridiculous. I'm sure he's capable of that emotion without my interference.
[He keeps his mouth shut about Ben, though. It may be that he still suffers from occasional curiosity about how that would turn out. And he'd rather not say anything about that where anyone but himself would hear/read it. Especially since he isn't of a mind to act on it.]
[THAT, however, is unexpected, and causes him to draw a confused breath, pausing.]

[Phoenix laughs at that, not at all surprised that Edgeworth would be so quick to deny anything. He didn't expect anything else. He's still open, but there's a hint of the old facade, keeping him from revealing too much at once.]
It always was you, even when I didn't really know it.
