Fun fun. You can use the campaign setting I've been designing. It's an island populated by the Knights of Harrumph. They're strong but stodgy and nearly crippled by the weight of tradition. Basically, they're paladins that act like grumpy old men. They control a series of fortresses along the ridgeline of a low mountain range that divides the island in half. The island's other inhabitants are a race of sentient apes who mostly laze around eating shoots and berries and inventing new magic. They decided eons ago that evolving beyond apehood was a waste of energy. After all, the forest provides everthing they need. They're great wizards, but they have a racial ability to revert to a primitive state and berserk. There's no guarantee they can return from the berserk state, though, so there's a possibility of losing your character in dire situations.

If you want, I'll draw up the maps again and write you some more about the surrounding region.

Sounds like loads of fun to me but I am as you are well aware... a nerd.

On the nerd tip I am planning to run a email rifts game. I would like you to play as it will give a chance to have nerd fun for those (myself largely included) who are locationally challenged from our nerd posse. Give me a call if you want to play.
