It's taken me a while to get to this point, so here's the deal.
From the moment I started this LiveJournal, it has been FRIENDS-ONLY and it's going to stay that way. If you wish to be added and have not been already, please post a comment here. I'm doing my utmost to be more selective of my friends so I'm not telling one group of friends one thing and another group another, because that's just hypocritical and stupid. There's also the fact that I don't want to be paranoid about posting something confidential here and having it get back to certain parties that might use such knowledge against me, as some form of leverage or to do some form of harm or get one-up on me... again, that's stupid.
And even my ex-wife has called me 'brilliant.' I'm just a bit slow on the uptake sometimes.
New person here, folks. A bit of the old, certainly; still bearing the weight of memories and mistakes; but I'm going forward and shouldering the weight with help from above, rather than letting it crush me into a cravasse which threatens to drag me down forever.
And one more thing. I'm likely to get evangelical/religious-like in here because I am, in fact, a Christian that believes in the inner room of my heart and right down to my bones that Christ came back from the dead and gave the promise of eternal life to those who believe. I'm not about to go 'round the world beating people about the head with Bibles, but most conversations I have involving divinity, organized religion (blech) and faith are likely to involve Christ. His grace and power and love have saved me more times than I can count, which makes him first among all the other pantheons in the cosmos, the enumeration of the Divine that is closest to my own nature. So you can accept that this is what I believe, or you can go your own way, friend. The choice is yours.
The name "Blue Ink Alchemist" grows out of my anime fandom. I am a fan of the show "Full Metal Alchemist" and I in fact own a state alchemist's watch. Some of the characters on that show - Ed, for example, and Mustang - have nicknames based on the way they use their alchemy, and what marks them as special among specialists. I use blue ink in my Waterman pen to write letters and in the Italian leather journal I recieved when I graduated from college. It seemed to fit. Along with what Ed's alchemically-bound little brother Al says at the beginning of every episode.
"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of equivalent exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one and only truth."
Ready, steady, can't hold me back.
Ready, steady, give me good luck.
Ready, steady, never look back.
Let's get started! Ready, steady, go!
Comment if you want to be added, plzkthx.
