Because they want to show the person is holding on to something.............? F, if I know really frankly I agree with you! I find it harder to draw hands all arthritisy and junk!

Maybe. But it's mostly distracting and...alien. Like you have spider claws or something. It's one of the negative things I zoom in on when looking at an image. DX

I actually cannot even get my hand into that position. Apparently my middle finger and ring finger don't like to be separated.

Holding the pose for 3 seconds made my hand ache, I can't imagine hold a person for long periods of time with that hand gesture.

I'm still sat here trying to do it. This is going to turn into like that time I spent nearly an hour trying to lick my elbow after someone told me it was impossible. /ahem.

lol I can't get my hand into that pose, either.

It's always bothered me, too. I mean, there are more natural ways you can draw hands to show they're holding onto something or whatever. It's just... so weird looking. (Especially when you lay them all beside one another like that lol!)

Haha...is this a new fad on it's own? To get your hand in that position? XDDD

Me thinks it's the newer artists that does this. I rarely see it in the older generation.

Looks to me like they're trying to do the Vulcan salute.

Also it's weird to see you posting on your LJ. :V

It' so awkward to see hands do that. They don't naturally part like that. I don't care if it's to show you're holding something. It looks really weird. There has to be better ways to show how you're holding something :/

I've always thought Kaze-Hime's hands are the better examples in these situations.
