Halfway to mid-twenties you guys

So uh, I turned 23 a couple days ago. Halfway to mid-twenties! I am coming to terms with the fact that my next major birthday milestone is going to mark the beginning of my biological processes moving past their prime and into degeneration instead of something cool and nifty ( Read more... )

twiggy fails at life, anecdotes, my aunt is lol, interesting conversations

HAHAHAHA my family has mis-comms like this all the time, due to my sister's slow degeneration of Chinese in her largely English-speaking environment, and my parents having English as their third language. This is probably a familiar scenario with your family.

LOL XD I can only imagine the shenanigans in your household~ We only ever speak Chinese at home, it's just one of those ground rules that have been set since I was a kid, but even with the enforced use I still feel like mine is slipping, alas.

This time around it really was lack of context that threw me off, because my aunt's English is quite superb despite it being her second language and she just asks about random words she's unfamiliar with. Normally when she asks me things without any context, they're not homophones for other words LOL

DON'T WORRY DON'T WORRY I was referring to 25 as my next "major" milestone birthday, we still have a bit more time before things start going downhill? D: I think 25 was the benchmark year I read about, anyway. Hmm...

Thank you! 8D

One day, we will all be IMMORTAL AND FOREVER YOUNG :o Although we probably won't be around when that happens either LOLOL *dances in confetti anyway*

I speak Cantonese~ In this exchange when she asked about the word for scenery/backdrop "bow ging" (lol crappy transliteration is crappy), since there wasn't any context, it sounded the same as the phrase "call the police" (also "bow ging", exact same tones and all). It probably doesn't help that I hear a lot of sirens go by outside my window and my mind was more likely to interpret it with the latter meaning XD"

Isn't scenery also "fung ging"? That's what I thought you meant, haha.

Well, in this context she meant the background/backdrop for a stage production or something? Google search definitions for "bow ging" seemed to prefer calling it "scenery" over "backdrop" though @_@ *remains confused*
