Exhibition in a noble cause

I'm feeling quite proud at the moment. I'll explain. As I'm sure you all know, this year is the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the first world war. Obviously, along with a lot of other European countries, this is a very significant anniversary for the UK. When was your grandfather born? Just curious because you're not sooooooo much older than I am - I think - and my grandfather fought in WWII ... he was born in 1916.

My grandfather was born in December 1898 - so he was still just a kid when he was dragged into the war. And he was already an old man by the time I came along. But I did spend a lot of time with him when I was little. He would tell me stories about people he had known growing up, funny things that had happened, as well as some of his war stories. It was probably quite an idyllic childhood, in some respects.
