Had a pretty good day today, at the Million Paws Walk (we were against the RSPCA, mind you), apart from getting a little privately upset a few times being reminded of my Lili. The great thing about being at an event like this was that the people there were already animal lovers of one sort or another, as opposed to the type of person who walks out ( Read more... )

<3 ALV. You guys got me out of a 'find a news story in the CBD' prac today. I just went.. 394 Russell St is kinda CBD. Protest on weekend. people in lettuce leaf outfits. breaking the news on the rspca. So then went for coffee and lunch, and constructed a prac sheet. Got back, checked details on the web, and there's something about getting a spread in the Age today? There's one picture, of two dogs and albert park lake, and no mention of the protest whatsover. But it's cute that they claimed that, and if I can get you guys some coverage in the RMIT student rag soon to be available throughout the CBD, I'll rectify the lack of coverage thingie for you.
Still, all coverage is good coverage, right? Even if the coverage, in fact, completely ignores your presence.. ?

Yeah, the Herald Sun totally ignored us too, but I couldn't care less. Everyone I spoke to there with there dog was shocked at the things the RSPCA has done and totally agreed with us, so if we've changed something about their attitude to that most hypocritical of associations, then I think I may be able to deal with being ignored by the Herald Sun.
However, being in your newpaper shall be exciting.

No, just thought it was odd because checked the releases/news on the alv website, and they said they got age coverage, so i was all 'woot! non dodgy media-ness', then it was all a lie... damn you, alv pr people.

hey, on another topic, are chickens actually kept in cages in australia?

Yes. Absolutely. The vast, vast majority.

Why do you think "free range" or "barn laid" eggs are specially labelled? Because every one that isn't is battery farmed, a practice which universally involves yes, cages.
