"and I am that which is attained at the end of desire."
So, The Great Mother Goddess is essentially a telos?

(I'm sorry, Philosophy is eating my skull...I'll go and sit in a dark corner now and think about something else. Good luck with drama tomorrow, by the way)

Hey, no one ever said Wicca was without a telos. We're definitely all for a final end to which we are moving.

So, the goddess herself is the telos? She's nothing more than a final end?

Hmmm... no, it's a little more complex than that. It has a few meanings. One is that when you have everything you ever thought you wanted the only thing left to achieve is oneness with the divine. It can also be explained in terms of the soul-evolution theory of reincarnation. Also known as the 'Spiral Dance', the Wiccan theory of reincarnation is that the soul's purpose is to learn and grow, becoming a better, more perfect being, and the final achievement of this process is that the soul becomes divine. Not as in you become 'a god', but in that the soul becomes part of the creative divine that we name the Lady and Lord. That is not to say that the role of the divine is merely as a blissful end for the 'good' soul, but that is the end at which we aim.
