The animations is beautiful, but unfortunately that doesn't make a good game. I expected nothing less from Square.
p.s. FF8 is the reason I wanted to pursue computer animation. XD even if you guys didn't like it that much, you gotta admit that the animation was hot for the time.
Oh, no doubt. Everything I say I hate that SE has put out has to be taken with a grain of salt. Storyline drives me, when it comes to RPGs, followed by gameplay. Graphics are important, but simple eye candy doesn't cut it.
Things in VII I like: The FMVs are beautiful, some of them even better than IX, though I personally am partial to IX because of the animation style.
The music, also, is beautiful. Then again, most FFs are, so I can't hold this for OR against the game.
And, of course, don't forget the only thing that made me play the game through in the first place: Triple Triad. It's kind of funny. I LOVE IX. My favorite of the series. But I hate Tetra Master. I HATE VIII. But Triple Triad is one of my favorite mini-games of them all.
The storyline, however...ugh. So emo. My personal nickname for VIII is 'Final Fantasy 90210'.
