Well, I had a really lovely Christmas, and I hope you all did, too. :) I am so surprised. I got so many lovely things! And I hope everybody liked what I made for them. I don't have very much pocket money and I have a really big family, so I always end up making things for people. But it's sort of fun to do that sometimes. :)
I made an earring for Bill out of one of Pigwidgeon's tiny feathers and some blue beads that came from a bracelet of mine that broke. I was worried that it would be too girly, but Bill wore it on Boxing Day and Mum said it was nice, so I think maybe he liked it. Bill gave me a Nine Inch Wands book! It's got a scary-looking cover and on the inside the pages are blank, but when you open it up it plays "Something I Can Never Hex." Mum just hates it. :D
I wrote a poem for Charlie. That is a tradition of ours. Ever since I told him one summer that I liked to write poems sometimes, he says he wants to see them. I would put it here, but it's kind of personal. Charlie wrote one back for me and got me a tiny second-hand radio so I can listen to the WWN at school too! Now I won't always be using Soblessa's.
Anyway, For Mum I got this really old table-runner from a second-hand shop and fixed up these missing patches where the embroidery had fallen out. It has little squirrels on it. I'm not as good at embroidery as I could be, so I hope it looked okay. She sewed me a new dress. It's blue and beautiful. I just love it. It goes with the chopsticks Cho gave me for my hair a little while ago. I'm going to wear it to King's Cross when we go back, even though I'll have to change clothes on the train.
For Dad, I just brought home some of the discuits they give us at school for our files, because I only need one. But Dad needs some because we just got this computer! :D Daddy brought me a stuffed bear from one of the Muggle houses he had to go to because some woman had bought it from a witch selling things right outside of Diagon Alley. It likes to get up and wander around and it will cuddle back in the middle of the night. It frightened some poor Muggle children so badly that they were scared of it even after some Memory Charms were cast, but I think it's really sweet and named it Humbert. Get it? :)
For the twins, I had no idea what to make, so I decided on getting Dad to help me. He went into their room one day and got out all their loose papers that were lying around with ingredients and cool notes and stuff on them and I sewed them into a book. I don't know if they were too pleased with it. I think they like their organised chaos. But I think they liked the cover I made for it, at least. They gave me a make up kit. It looks really nice. Almost too nice. I haven't used it yet... um, I don't really know if it is... uh, safe. :o
I think my favourite things were what I gave Ron and Hermione. Ron's obsessed with the Chudley Cannons, you know (my team has been the Prides, ever since Professor Lupin took us to that game!), so I looked up their manager's address and sent him a letter and got seven black and white glossy photos of the team members autographed! Joey Jenkins even personalised his for Ron. I was so excited to give them to him. I mean, he already has a lot of posters and things of them... but still, I knew he wouldn't like a jumper or a scarf or something like that. I think they went over much better than a jumper. :) That is just what Ron gave me, as well. Only the jumper is very tiny, and is for Dante. It's an orange Cannons jumper. Dante looks very adorable in it.
Hermione was with us on Christmas night! That was really fun. Our house seemed so full. She gave me these absolutely lovely enchanted hair ribbons! They never slip loose from their bows and they fade colours to match your outfit. I wore them on Boxing Day woven into my braids. For Hermione I wasn't really sure what to do. I know she likes books, but Ron got her one and it seems like she's already read everything, and I don't know if we like the same kind of books (I like fairy tales and mystery novels). So I decided to make her a pillow, because it seemed like a fun idea, and I bet she hadn't ever been given one before. Soblessa helped me. We picked out an old dress of mine that I hadn't been able to wear for a year or so, but I still really liked anyway. It was kind of light green with darker green stripes. I used to call it my Spring dress. I liked it because it made my hair look more auburn instead of orange. So I sewed it all up and Soblessa and I stuffed it, and then I left it open until we got home, and Mum and I stuffed some lavender into it and sewed it up, and I spent a day crocheting some lace for the edges. It looked kind of worn and antiquey, but I think it turned out really pretty, and Hermione said it smelled good.
Penelope stayed the night with me and Hermione too! I was kind of surprised, because Penelope is always so polite and quiet, I thought she might be annoyed that Hermione and I like to stay up sort of late talking, but she put down the really big book Percy gave her and talked with us about Hogwarts and my family and Ron and Hermione and stuff. It was so fun. Penelope is very pretty and grown-uppish. She says she is very certain that if it weren't for my brothers I would have boys lined up and down the corridors. She is way too nice. But that was the very best part of Christmas. Just us three girls in our night gowns and my tiny room full of extra beds and giggling past lights out and reflecting on what a nice Christmas it had been.
Oh yes, and I forgot to mention, I got a book from Percy, too. It was a book about girl prefects. It has a really long title that I can't remember without going to get it. I wonder he is trying to tell me something. Anyway, I am sure it will be really useful. I think I am Percy's new personal project. On Boxing Day he tried to help me with my Transfiguration. It was... nice of him. Maybe I need a new wand or something, but I don't know. It works fine for Charms. Maybe I am just not powerful enough to do Transfiguration. I try to pay attention and take notes in class, but it seems kind of hopeless. Anyway, I made a paperweight for Percy. It has a real cauldron in it that I shrunk. I don't know if he liked it or not. He's sort of partial about the, um, care of cauldrons. But at least he will have something to keep his papers under.
I have things that I made for Harry and for Cho, too, but I don't know whether I should give them or not. I don't want to seem stupid, and I don't want them to feel like they should give me anything either. I reckon I won't have to decide for another couple of days, anyway.
Mum's making cider! Mmm!
