Instead of live-tweeting and spoiling, here are my thoughts on 50 Shades of Gray (which, rest assured, I borrowed digitally from the DC Public Library)

Cut for spoilers )

50 shades, criticism, bdsm

This made me giggle. Please oh please do more of this in the future! Your funny tweets kept me going all day!

Have also done 7 of Christian's list. Same with the permanent marks not being on purpose. I'm in total agreement about the INTENT of permanent marks. I'm big on intent.

Exactly! I always feel a little sad for people who list fireplay as a hard limit. I know people are afraid of fire, I just like it so much I'm sure they must not know what they're missing.

It makes a bit more sense in the later books

I figured there was a reason. It just makes me sad in general when people say they don't like it (it's like the first time someone described it as fear play, i was like "what are you talking about?").
For me, also, while tops are absolutely allowed hard limits, I feel like there's no a reason for him to say "no knifeplay". Is he afraid she'll see it on wikipedia and ask to try it?

"I also prefer to negotiate by inclusion, because someone can always surprise you."

Smart girl. I'm always surprised by how long it takes some people to learn this lesson.
