OOC: Info Post

OOC info posts seem to be the order of the day.

George Oscar "G.O.B." Bluth II (It's pronounced "Jobe," like the Biblical Job... No, it doesn't make any sense. Many things with GOB don't.) is a magician by trade and a failure by practice. The oldest of four kids, he never received the kind of love or attention from his parents that his brothers and sister did. In the words of his mother, Lucille, "I never liked GOB." GOB's brother Michael was always smarter and more capable, leading to their father, George, to shun GOB unless he needed someone who could easily be manipulated into doing something stupid.

To cover up his crippling self-doubt and self-hatred that was caused by such total apathy towards him for his entire life, GOB puts on a cover of crippling over-confidence. This should show in his chosen profession.

He was a fairly prominent - if not exactly GOOD - magician who was responsible for creating the Alliance of Magicians, a union dedicated to blacklisting anybody who revealed a magician's secrets. After GOB tried to hide his father inside a trick called the Aztec Tomb when the police came for him, the Alliance blacklisted him. This kind of thing is the story of his life. Anyway, the blacklisting is why he always refers to himself as an "Illusionist." He doesn't do tricks - whores do those for money... or candy. He does illusions. Because he can't say otherwise.

His family is loaded despite a few years where the Bluth Company was in trouble with George in jail for a number of charges that lead to the freezing of the family's assets. Even during that time, GOB mooched from his family, even going so far as to live on the company yacht until he blew it up for an illusion. (Don't ask GOB to make something disappear and give him enough time to get explosives.) He bought a second yacht with his company allowance that he currently lives on.

In the past, he's held jobs such as male stripper (Hot Cops), singer (he and his terribly offensive puppet, Franklin, released a CD), President of the Bluth Company (that didn't go well), cartoonist (he created the Mr Bananagrabber character featured in my OOC icon), and waiter (but he didn't actually work at the restaurant). Oh, and Franklin was a pimp. Buying Caritas was a natural progression, clearly.

In terms of person-to-person interaction... he's a cocky ass most of the time, a womanizing flirt often (Although his relationship with Becky has toned that down somewhat out of fear for his life... and yet he'll still hit on a 16-year-old girl on her way to prom hoping to score some action. For the record, he doesn't have a problem going for high school girls. Becky is actually older than his last girlfriend was.), and a pathetic mess on occasion. Sometimes all three in rapid succession. His mood can swing wildly from moment to moment, often when there's something that pisses off the side of him that controls his overconfidence. He can be nice, though. This usually happens when he's genuinely happy about something (Which isn't often - he'll usually hit smugly satisfied, which is a bit different.), or when he doesn't care enough to be condescending. Sometimes he'll shoot for condescending and miss, too.

Finally, and this is important, he's an idiot. He does stupid things on a regular basis and doesn't realize until immediately afterwards that he just made a terrible mistake. And he'll announce that realization by muttering "I've made a terrible mistake." He's kind of mental like that.

Oh, and The Final Countdown is a crap song by Europe that GOB uses as his theme music. The intro is loud, repetative, slightly annoying, and synthesized. Much like GOB himself.
