Are you using Cable or ADSL? And what kinda modem do you have? What kind of hub did they give you as well? As you know, I'm a networking specialist. :D And I work for my local ISP. I can probably help more than some tard in India. ^_^

ADSL. It was a BTHomeHub, a propietary router that they send to you and is locked to BT's broadband only. I've switched it for a Belkin and it's all fine now. Only one disconnect over the last 2 days!

I'l gonna switch this week since they've now started ignoring my support e-mails. A nice small local ISP sounds idea.

And about the packet loss, it only happens 5 hops in to any tracert, and hop 7 is still in the BT network, so it's definitely their problem.

Aye, it might not be a bad idea. ^^ We've taken to giving people either a Siemens se567 home gateway, or a 2-wire 2700 home gateway. They're both fun, because its an ADSL modem and broadband router in the same package. Phone line comes in, 4 Ethernet ports and wireless internet come out. ^_^

Good on yah for switching out the hub in favor of a Belkin. They're not as good as some, but they still work better than what you had, by the sounds of it.

I think the industry prefers that users switch ISPs because the overlapping fees reward them for not fixing anything. :P

It's a shame if that's true. Mind you.. my ISP has recently come last in a poll of customer satisfaction, hehe.
