I went on two school trips this week.  One to the Look Out Discovery Centre and one to Kew Gardens.

I was really pleased about Kew Gardens because I'd really wanted to see them, but the normal cost was £12 (too steep for this chica).  With the school, I actually got paid to go.  And it was a lovely day.  The gardens are extensive and lovely.  As a

Last time I went to Kew, it was 2p to get in, and there was a burly, but jovial policeman making sure that everybody paid. That would have been in the 1970s. I think the price was set by Parliament in the 1800s, probably to something like 6d. It took another Act of Parliament to get it changed.
