Notes to self:

-wow, I see these catwalk fashion photographer types don't spend a lot of time on detail...
they just click and post...

-their web sites are basically Photoshop automations...

I guess it does make some sort of sense considering the volume...
And I was photoshopping crap of the runway... ?

There's a lot to learn.

I think you should maintain your attention to detail. That will help set you apart from the rest.

I agree but from what I see the fashion web sites seem to post them anyways with little concern. Someone I talked to last week-end said it was a question of budget...
Taking 3000-4000 photos over four days would require a lot of photoshopping. The actual designers would most likely want much nicer copies though.
In the future though I should post examples.

Every time I watch "America's Next Top Model" or whatever that show is called, I think of you. Well I think of Tyra then I think of you. =)

It seems more and more photographers are doing more candid type work than ever before. I see some wedding photos and think they must have passed out the drug store throw away type cameras for the guest to take photos for them. Sometimes candid is "ok" but don't go that route. Be yourself, as you have all along. It's YOUR vision that matters :)

With major fashion shows {like 4-5 days} volume and processing becomes very important. I think the volume is based on the fact that they don't want to miss a single piece of clothing. {which makes sense to me...}

The photographers who do weddings on LJ {on my friends list} are the very best though :)

Catwalk photography is basically a specialized branch of photojournalism... the emphasis is on capturing reality in the most timely manner possible. Think of the newswires and the press photographers. You don't Photoshop your work and then send it to your editor. In fact, you'd probably be fired if you did!

Commissioned fashion spreads (for magazines, catalogues, advertising, etc.) are a totally different style, even though the subject matter is the same. Don't confuse the two. ;-)
