A Welcome Break

Wow. I had a good day. My stomach hurts a bit from the party last night (beer + wine + Doritos = stinky poo + stomach upset). I was woken by a howling child this morning at about 7:30, which is not unusual for a weekend. It was somewhat unpleasant having only gone to bed after 1am ( Read more... )

Except for [info]fraudirector, who remains at GMT-5

There's a new effort in IN to pass a daylight savings bill. It's begin pushed through the house as a rider on a transportation bill of some sort. Here's the real kicker, if it passes...

We'll change our clocks in JUNE!!!!! None of this, we've passed it and it'll take effect next year, no, we'll change mid-summer. With my luck it'll actually take place while I'm in Portland in the middle of the month!

There's always the second half of the discussion as well, if we move with daylight savings time, which timezone do we go with, Eastern or Central?

The unspoken rule was that the daylight savings time of choice was dictated by county. The counties closer to Chicago are on Central Time, all the time. The counties closer to Cincinatti unofficially keep Eastern Time year round. I imagine, this would be a similar condition, possibly resulting in going back and forth as you cross county lines.

No, they're trying to handle the remaining 77 counties as a bunch. So what ever happens, we'll all go together.

I've always hated daylight savings time. Actually the ENDING of DST is what annoys me. I would gladly goto work in the dark if I can see some sunlight afterwork. But there probably isn't too much chance of moving EST to GMT-5 permanantly.
