looking to the future.

I was debating whether I wanted to put this in here or not. Ultimately, I have to get it out somewhere, and I suppose here is a good place. I was running the creative part of my mind on overtime working on songwriting intensely today, when this popped into my head. Some of this is direct quotes from my original writing and some of it is ( Read more... )

The good thing is that not all of these fatal diseases are hereditary. But I've seen such an increase in the number of people with cancer. I don't mean statistically, I mean in terms of the people that I know, and I'm only one person. It must be happening elsewhere. I really feel as though at some point in the future they will be able to find a cure for cancer, even if that's completely irrational thinking. We certainly take pride in our medical accomplishments, but the discoveries are certainly worthy of that pride in my opinion. By problems, do you mean overpopulation, or just the incessant spreading of these diseases?

I, too, think that the discoveries are worthy of the recognition they are getting. I just don't want the world to get so caught up in its greatness that they overlook what could become a huge problem. And by problems I wasnt talking about overpopulation, just the way that diseases will filter down through generations.

a great example of this is bad vision. glasses, contacts, and laser eye surgery do not solve the problem of bad vision and don't stop it passing from one generation to the next. the vision of the human race will get worse and worse as we continue reproducing because in this world, we can live with bad eyesight! survival of the fittest? well, now that's completely out of the picture, since you don't have to be "fit" in any sense of the word to survive in the modern world. we're passing along bad genes, but it's never going to stop since people keep living. they live too long, spread too many illnesses, and pass on all of their bad genes to their offspring ( ... )
