In my hurry to get the chapter posted yesterday I forgot to get review responses up until today!
Kuja's feelings for Zidane - "The whole "don't dance with multiple times unless there a serious interest between the two" is so cute! Kuja is not a very honest person, so I like it when his actions conveys that he cares for Zidane!"
Everything in this chapter is about Kuja proving that he does love Zidane, from dancing with him multiple times to jumping in front of a dragon and Trancing. But in some ways the person Kuja is most dishonest with is himself. I'm not sure if he understands his own feelings, even now.
Trance - "I can't believe Kuja went into Trance! And to save Zidane, too! And if Kuja is capable of going into Trance, then maybe that means he can use magic again? "
I thought this would be the perfect way to force Kuja to face his true feelings. I couldn't see Kuja telling Zidane he loved him; he simply doesn't understand that yet, not in a way that he can explain. But there's no way he could've Tranced either, if he didn't care so much about Zidane that he was willing to die for him.
I have considered the possibility of Kuja being able to wield magic again in the future, but it might also be something that would take so long in terms of recovery time that it would be beyond the scope of this story. That's something that Garnet was already concerned about, the possibility that he could recover to that degree.
Dissidia NT character graphics - "I think Dissidia NT graphics did a really good job on Kuja! I think Kuja looks androgynous enough, though keep in mind he is 24 years old, made into a young adult, and is a still a man. I don't find the muscles distracting, they're barely that noticeable and not to mention Kuja's body shape even more slender than the rest of the girls in the game! "
Kuja's "ideal" appearance really is a matter of personal preference... It's really obvious in fanart where you see a much wider interpretation for Kuja than Zidane. Zidane almost always looks the same as canon, no matter who's drawing, versus Kuja, who runs the gamut from being extremely feminine to much more masculine than canon. Some artists give him a softer or younger face, some a more severe face. Hair length and density changes, etc. I guess my preference is somewhere in between... not girly, but a softer look than the Dissidia version. In my head he's just barely on the masculine side of androgynous. I really am attached to the FFIX cutscenes, even though there's variance in his appearance there as well. Dissidia Zidane on the other hand I like much better than the FFIX version, where his hair was way too big and he was too cartoony.
