You know, the first thing that came to mind, was a serious question as whether the shells would survive a washing cycle. Perhaps this demonstrates my unfamiliarity with the shells?

Other than that, I could see myself doing the same thing. There are lots of things my wife thought I was odd for putting in the dishwasher.
