My mom cooked some sort of curry from it for dinner today..

I am not a fan of karela either. So it's bitter melon in english...

More like FAKE MELON! Seriously, english, how do you confuse this thing with the wonder that is a honeydew or cantaloupe?!

Haha, aww!! I've never had karela, but I have had bitter-melon often in the past. I hear that its taste is more bearable if you rinse it in salt, first, before you cook it~ Gets some of the bitterness out. :P
