Oh, hell, is absolutely amazing - I love it to pieces. I love the way your narrative is clear and then falls into a palimpsestic moosh to come out the other side as something new. And I especially love the final line, because (with my own palimpsest) I go straight to Hamlet and ping off all the issues that appear in that. Ooh, and I love that you don't answer your own question of what does make a person. So so good.

I'm so glad this works for you. The structure had me concerned because it looked fragmented, and I wasn't sure if the unity I felt underneath was coming through.

I hadn't consciously thought of Hamlet's last lines when I wrote this, but you're right - there's room for some interesting exploration there.

Thanks for reading!

There's the whole thing with the Ghost and Hamlet (who builds a soliloquy around the Ghost's line 'remember me'), with the Ghost spurring Hamlet to action even though it isn't(?) what he wants to do. Very psychological, in a Renaissance way. :D

Mmmm, I like it. A lot. The ending is so vivid. The entire flow of this is inspired. Wonderful piece.

So beautifully ambiguous and heartbreaking, really what the show could/should have been.

Thanks for sharing this.

Thank you! My favorite moments from the show were when the characters were forced to grapple with identity issues. I wish there had been more of that.

Margaret Bashford did not like her new neighbors

Hoo boy. I'll just bet.

I liked the philosophy prof's intro, but when Margaret and her pals piped up, I was hooked. The last bit, with Caroline wondering if she could let go and if she would go on, reminded me of the things about Caprica that I like because it's asking the same questions.

¡Yay for thinky fic!

Yay, glad you liked!

I love Caprica for the same reason too. Between these two shows, I've gotten plenty of brain-fodder on identity and self-hood.
