Hello there! I just noticed you friended me, so I thought I'd come and say hello as this seems to be a new journal :-)

Oh hey! Thanks for the welcome, it's a lovely surprise.

You're right, this is a new journal. I just managed to finish writing my first work of fanfic, and decided I need a place to post it. Hence me putting up this journal last night instead of working on my tax returns.

Bad bob. No cookie.

As for the story responsible for this journal's creation, it's just a day old and needs beta. Might take a couple of weeks before I put it up here. When it does, I'd be honored if you read it :)

Thanks again for the welcome. My flist on this journal is pretty bare-bones, but I'm eager for more Bring Me A Boat. I friended you so I'll know about the next update immediately. Kudos on that excellent work.

Take care!
Bob.

Oh, thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying Boat - I've nearly finished the next chapter, so it should be going up in the next couple of days.

I'd love to read your fic - I'll look forward to it! Are you going to post it on remusxsirius (assuming it is R/S)? I'll look out for it here in any case :-)

Yes, the story is Remus/Sirius and I'm planning to post to remusxsirius. I assume one does not need to be invited to post there?

And if I may ask you for a bit of advice, what's a good way to find a beta? My RL friend has helped out but she isn't an R/S fan so I'm still concerned about the characterization and americanisms. I've found http://www.perfectimagination.co.uk/ which claims to connect writers and betas. It seems like a good option, but I'm wondering how new writers usually find beta readers.

Thank you for the encouragement! This is the first work of fiction I've managed to complete in ten years, and it's the teensiest bit nerve-wracking :)
