Wonderful. ♥ What a perfect ending - I also believe Tonks deserved a second chance. Plus Charon reminds me of Terry Pratchett's Death and that wins at life.
That was incredible! Thank you. I've read quite a few afterlife fics, and it's nice to read one that's canon compliant, still Remus/Sirius, and everybody gets what they want/need.
Wow! This is truly amazing. It's so perfectly plausible and yet compassionate. Your concept of the Afterlife is so compellingly original and gave everyone such a perfect "out" for the most awkward situation possible.
I loved Sirius' kindness - again, he was so very compassionate. Granted, he was reasonably confident that he "won," but he was so loving about it. And, yes, he WOULD have turned down the option to reincarnate.
I'm glad she did, though. I imagine it being a very healthy thing for her.
And Ted was just wonderful! Very much how I picture him.
But most of all, I love your take on the dynamic between Sirius/Remus/Tonks. That is EXACTLY as I picture it. No animosity, just a twinge of sorrow/regret. Sirius would he happy that Remus wasn't alone and Tonks would know she was not his true love, but accept it. And, Remus, well, he loves them both, but in different ways.
Okay, I've rambled enough. This was excellent. Seriously, one of the best things I've read in a long time!
Thank you so much for your kind comments. I'm truly honored.
I'm glad you agree with the Sirius/Remus/Tonks dynamic here.
Remus and Tonks both strike me as very large-hearted people. I don't think their marriage would have lasted if they'd lived (Remus seems to have been driven by a need for belonging, and Tonks by infatuation and a desire to protect Remus), but I think they would have remained good friends who support one another.
Sirius here is what I see as the man he would have become had he not gone to Azkaban. He can be a big bundle of tactless energy but he is devoted to the people he considers "family". And he will gladly swallow his own discomfort to make them happy.
If they had all come together in the Afterlife, I imagine there would have been copious awkwardness, divided loyalties and angst until they found a comfortable medium. Fortunately, Tonks was itching to jump back into the living world, and everyone sighed in slightly guilty relief :)
