So here's the whole adventure, at least in rural area, since I haven't finished writing down my "In China" notes.
Right now it's the April 30th 7:18pm here in Junrabookdo(Province), Puangun Hwamokri. Coming down here was rough to start.
The whole trip started yesterday.
Yesterday, April 29th
I was enjoying company of my little cousin Andrew, until the kiddo had to go to school. Morning as a whole alright, but I was tad annoyed with my mother, since she was impatiently insisting I should inquire to Canadian ambayssy about Andrew's lost passport.
(He was born in Canada, in year 2000 while my aunt was visiting. It was stolen via fruad back in 2004, when she gave all her family's passport to an immigration guide. Sheer evilness na?)
So I phoned the ambassy and found out the aunt have to visit the place with a passport photo, and mail in an application, but my mother's impatientness was getting to me.
While I tried not to let it get to me, I'm sure most of you are aware how transparent my face is while I'm discontent.
Therefor I was brooding fair bit through out morning and then had lunch.
But the real trouble exploded when we got back to aunt's house, to pick up the parcel and leave for city of Changbookri.
With post-meal-sleepies kicking in, I was indulging myself in free-re run of Abenoshi shotengai, when my mother phoned the guy she wants to set me up with.
Not knowing who she called, when she passed me the phone, I asked her who it is. She just pushed me the phone and said, "Just answer"
So, instead of usual greeting of "Hello" I asked "Who is it?"
and *click* the line went dead.
Logically thinking, most people wouldn't expect somebody to call you,
and then ask you who it is.
However, the moment I heard the click I realized who my mother might have called, and that blew steam off my head.
I really shouldn't have, since both my aunt and her sister in law were present, but blinded by combination of sheer annoyance and anger, I was screaming at my mom.
You shoulda seen their faces.^^;;;
I explain the circumstances to my aunt, and my mother countered with her point of view, but it ended with my aunt advicing my mother to leave me alone.
Therefore, my mother lost her face in a split second, so she was really angry with me.
During the whole four hour bus ride to Changbookri,
she didn't say a word to me.
*face palm* I should learn to control my anger ne?^^;;;
Okay, random filler-
The shoes I bought from my first market trip with my mom and aunt the 28th
Continuing the story-
Getting off at the terminal, I was wrapped in strange sensation.
Nothing was familier, yet it all felt so welcoming.
It was differnt from Incheon the suberb, where I didn't exactly feel "welcomed"
The streets of rural area of Changbookri, had changed so much in ten years.
It wasn't the field and farm houses it used to be; it was more like a market place. Think of more modernized China-town. You'll know what I mean. ^^
We got on the bus once, sat apart from each other about 8 seats away,
and while my mother was talking to the bus driver, and aksing questions,
I was admiring the night scenery of Changbookri.
There were lights everywhere, and interesting text-ridden signs.
The roads were lot smaller than Incheon, and the bus was single seat.(It was double in Incheon)
We got off pretty shortly, at a street I couldn't recall at all.
However, my mother just started walking ahead, so I was following her like a blind lamb.
Less then five minutes, my mother found the grand parent's house.
The place had a whole new look. I was astonished at the change.
It used to look like this.
A little more shabbier with a huge wire framed case for catering dogs.
But now it was like this.(That's my grandpa in the picture.)
What was distnict though, was the smell.
As I walked now paved and asphalted road, I was questioning myself if my mother knew the way at all, for it used to be dirt and rocks, smelling of animal poop. While the trace of animal feces were gone, I was greeted with a familiur scent. I'm still not so sure what it is, it smells a little like Chinese medicine but not as bitter, but that's what my grandma smells like.
It wasn't as strong as it used to be, and my mother walked with confidence.
Opening the door, she yelled out, with her voice almost-laced-with-tears
"Mother"
And loudly, my grandmother answered.
...Wow, I felt at home.
Both my grandmother and grandfather, were a lot smaller than I remembered.
They still had tan faces from years of farming, and they still had the same hair style, even though decade had went by.
(Here's shot of me and my Grandpa)
(A shot of my grandmother(sitting upright), my mom, and my grandpa's sister)
Shedding all feelings of bitterness towards me,
my mother was happily chatting with her parents, while they were staring at me happily.
First thing my grandpa said to me was "You've lost weight." XD;;; ahaha.
My grandmother and grandfather told us,
that our younger aunty and uncle had called,
to ask if my mother had got here safely, since the road had changed so much.
It was nice to see family members thinking of each other-
In ten years, I finally felt as I was breathing family-ship.
I was glad I was home, and after watching some TV and small chats,
we went to sleep.
Yesterday ends here.
I'll log about today again sometime.
My mother wants to go home, and I have no access to computer in my grandma's house.
Right now I'm over at grandpa's sister's house, taking hostage of young uncle's computer.XD
Well then, another update coming up soon.<3
