1. for the second year in a row, they scheduled it for the same week as my finals...there's not really a whole lot i can do about it. i tried to get time off from work this month to go to new york, but they wouldn't give it to me. and i'm starting school january 3rd, so it doesn't really look like i'm going anywhere to see anyone for quite a while.
2. i've taken like 2 years off from school since i graduated hs, but i'm starting back in january. the idea is just to get an aa in business, since i still have no idea what i want to do after school.
3. 99% of the time that i'm on the computer anymore, i'm dividing my attention between that and something else, like the tv, or sex, or something like that. so i'm hardly ever actually "here" to talk to anyway. and then on nights when i'm bored and able to talk to people, you're usually sleeping.
i'm here now, but you're watching a movie. dourk. :p
A)1- I'm not sure how big of a fan of Wilco you are, but the documentary that was done on them while they were recording Yankee Hotel Foxtrot was excellent. Movie's called "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart" 2- If you haven't read it, Brave New World. 3- Blonde Redhead (band), specifically, their album Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons.
B) What do you think of Topher's rant about drinking? Pen or pencil? Deep down in your heart, you really secretly liked that Paperbacks CD, didn't you? You just told me you didn't like it so you could appear more indie and aloof.
1. it didn't really surprise me all that much, since he's been moving away from alcohol for quite a while, and i can see his point how having a thread dedicated to alcohol(ism) as the first thread in the main forum can be seen as kind of a sad statement.
on the other hand, i think anyone who'd take it as such is wound up a bit too tight, and i think the board itself is in a pretty sorry state right now anyway, so that should be the least of our worries.
2. pen. i hate pencils, for some reason. possibly because the eraser is just a joke, as it does a better job of messing up the paper and smearing the graphite all around than it does of erasing.
3. yep, you got me. i was just trying to fit in with all the indie kids :'(
really, though, the voice got on my nerves a little, and it was just really straightforward...nothing really special about it. i also think i remember the lyrics kind of sucking, but i could be thinking of someone else.
A) 1. 24 Hour Party People 2. James Redfield - The Celestine Prophecy 3. Richard Buckner - Bloomed
B) 1. When are you coming back to New York? 2. Will you actually come up for air long enough for me to see you? 3. What is your middle name? (This question started out ironic, and then I realized that I don't think I actually know it.)
C) People can ask me anything, but I can't promise to answer. I can only promise that if I do answer, it will be the truth.
1. i was trying to fly out to new york in mid-december, but i can't get the time off from work. and then after that, i'm starting school, so the earliest i could do it would be late march (the week after sxsw.) it's a long time away, but leah's spring break is scheduled for the same week, so that's a plus, at least.
2. of course! and you know you're more than welcome to join in, right?
3. james. my dad's name, my half-brother's middle name, and it was my grandpa's middle name, too.
A) movie: koyanisqatsi. i think i spelt it wrong. theres a double letter in there somewhere. anyways. by steven speilberg. easy to find. book: where the wild things are by maurice sendak music: well duh. jonah. but anyways listen to this song: one candle power - white whisper.
(B) are you drunk?: why do you smell?: when are you moving out into the big world from your parents? haha get outta there! no more free rent!:
1. not yet. 2. i dunno...cause i'm american? 3. i'd like to right now, but it wouldn't really be very smart. and my car's about to die, i think, so i'm gonna have to buy a car first, and then try to save up enough to move out while making car payments at the same time. lame.
