For the most part I've left IRC. The activity in the rooms I spent time in has diminished. I really never belonged there and there really isn't any reason to stay. I'll stop in from time to time ;)

As we begin the 4th year of our war in Iraq we have 2318 dead servicemen in that conflict. The new democratic government is spinning it's wheels as the war of Iraqi against Iraqi (we can't call it a civil war yet) grows larger. 20 years ago today I watched as Challenger disintegrated before my eyes from my front yard. It was a strange feeling. There wasn't the noise of an explosion. Sound is delayed where I am so we saw it first. The normal climb out trail suddenly expanded and then the booster rockets continued on strange tracks. Her passing has had me reflecting on how little I knew or was aware of at the time. I suppose i can be forgiven for not being aware of her situation in the '50s since I was a white sub-teen and teen growing up in New Hampshire and suburbs of Boston.
