Wansdyke Wanderings

In the park in Keynsham there is a utility duct that runs over the river. On the side of the duct is a plaque which reads "Wansdyke Council". This confused me for years - normally we are Bath, or Bristol or Avon or something but I had never heard of Wansdyke so could not understand why it should be there.
