DVD writer?

Jul 11, 2007 09:03

Anyone know a good brand of DVD writer? One I can install in a PC. I've no real idea who makes quality stuff and I'm loathe to buy based on "this costs more, it must be better."
Also useful are names of shite manufacturers.

lazyweb, computers

I have an Iomega which is actually a rebadged LiteOn, haven't had any trouble with it.

Mine's a Samsung and cost about 20-odd quid. It's nice and black too. Never had any problems with it, and have had it for at least 2 years.

Don't get one! Just spend the money going to fun fairs and buying Haribo and icecream sundaes!

LG drives are good, and they specialise in multi-format compatibility. I tend to buy stuff from Aria - see their LG drives here (note - get the correct interface, IDE or SATA, otherwise you're going nowhere!)

The LightScribe drives are interesting - they allow you to do a mono-chromatic print onto the disk's upper surface. Not tried the technology myself.

Sonic DVD has been working well for me for years.
