Well, the lag when the engine was under load came back quickly. That is when trying to gun it at cruising speed without downshifting, starting from a stop while facing uphill, heavy accelleration, etc. Basically the torquey "performance" side of my car that makes it fun to drive was gone, and getting worse

Not sure about your bulbs but I was able to find standard brake light bulbs at Advance Auto for $6/pair. YOu might take the bulb down there first and see if you can match it up.
