I used to own that book, obscure though it be. It eventually fell apart, but I recall thinking it surprisingly good.

I suspect that Goulart is somewhat obscure as an SF writer. I've read one of his novels (When The Waker Sleeps) and some short stories, and saw him on of all places Antiques Roadshow; he was on that program as an expert on comic books.
