Interesting... You're the second athiest in two days to point out that it was a book that really started your conversion, hehe. "If you start thinking that reality is(n't) what it is because of what some book says ( ... )

If I see a ghost, I'd want to understand the mechanisms behind the projection. There are plenty of phenomena which are currently inexplicable, and of course the mind does do funny things. But if I saw a ghost, I think someone with my humor and aesthetics would prefer the story to read 'ghost' and not 'trick of the mind'.

Also, if concrete proof of a god exists, I'd probably convert upon understanding of the proof, something I would attempt.

Iish.. Theocracy.

And faith-based religions? I have critical reading skills; I can trust, to varying degrees, my senses and, more so, my logic; I've been warned not to be gullible, that some people will take advantage of my trust. Yet the religious want me to throw these out so that I take part of something which might exist.

Let God speak to you in his/her own voice. Don't rely on what others tell you God says to them.Tonight I have a former Catholic nephew marrying a Morman girl, and they're having a reception (on a Friday during Lent) with meat, and no coffee, tea or booze. My Catholic family is insulted. They weren't even allowed to attend the wedding ceremony, but were expected to provide gifts. What do you think? See what I think at peoplepowergranny.blogspot.com, and vote in my poll on when it's proper to play by the rules.
