Awesome: Nuclear batteries that hold "a million times as much charge as standard batteries." They're already used in the military, medical, and aerospace industries. Pacemakers and satellites often have nuclear batteries. So - why the crap aren't we using them to power electric cars??

I'm as surprised as anybody that President Obama has won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize.

He is only the third sitting US President to do so, and the first in 90 years - the other two being Teddy Roosevelt in 1906 (for negotiating the end to the Russo-Japanese War), and Woodrow Wilson in 1919 (for creating the League of Nations at the end of World War ( Read more... )

Mark and I went to see Putting It Together, a musical revue of Stephen Sondheim's work, at Harvard tonight. It was a unique revue, in that instead of being a series of disjointed songs, the songs (though taken from Sondheim's myriad different works) were woven into a coherent plot completely independent of the shows they were originally composed ( Read more... )
