Things I have seen lately
Here there be spoilers, And opinions:
Doctor Who:
I like River Song's identity reveal. But it seemed to come out of the blue. Was there any foreshadowing? Did River behave around Amy and Rory like any woman would toward her long-lost parents who are half her age? Does Moffat really have the criss-crossing timelines all worked out? I'm a bruised veteran of The X-Files. Simple assurances aren't enough for me.
X-Men: The One With The Origin Story:
Just returned from the theater after watching this. I've come to accept that I have to prepare myself for certain disappointments when I go see a blockbuster action movie. Egregious misrepresentation of science, including evolution (no, it REALLY doesn't work like that), aerodynamics (no, you can't glide if someone is dangling from your arm and your wing collapses), and pharmacology (I can't believe you're stupid enough to inject that glowy green substance into your foot without doing some clinical testing) - CHECK. Assorted grab-bag of race- and gender-fail? CHECK. Sudden shifts in motivation with no explanation? CHECK.
But the explosions were cool?
