I picked up two local books. Dunno if they're available overseas, but anyhow:
- Something Happened on the Way to Hell by K.H. and K.K. Chong
Quite amusing, and so far mostly about deaths. A collection of wacky short stories with philosophical slant.
- Army Daze by Michael Chiang
This story first appeared as a play, and rewritten into a novel. A very localised comedy about Singapore boys' experiences in the army.
I'm not sure about your taste in books, but if you want some light reading, like chick lit, I love the Shopaholic Series by Sophie Kinsella. Good Omens is entertaining no matter how many times I re-read it, so if you haven't read it, I highly recommend it. Hmm, what else ... I love Pat Barker's books. If you are interested in psychology and history of the world wars, read the Regeneration Trilogy. They are a bit heavy, but well-worth reading, in my opinion. :)

Oo, what did you get? I've been looking for some new material to read, and suggestions would be great.
