I defended my dissertation Wednesday.
I officially deposited my dissertation today and paid off all the remaining bills.
All I have left is walking across the stage.

How often do you run across a gem like that?

Look up the Vanguard Target Retirement 2040 fund (actually, substitute 2040 for when you want to retire... 2045?). It's a good one to buy into if you don't want your portfolio actively managed.
