So I need to take my tragus piercing out because I believe that it is developing a keloid. :/ It's pierced with a regular hoop and I was wondering on how to go about taking it out? Should I try to do it myself? Or is it best to go back to the tattoo parlour and have my piercer take it out? Thanks so much! I really need the input.

I also have my tragus pierced, at 12g, but I've never formed a keloid on it. I wouldn't go as far as removing the piercing because of a keloid unless your piercer tells you that you should. I did a bit of research and found this:

"I have a raised bump on one side of my piercing. What is it and how do I get rid of it? - The best and least hassle-free way to remove it, is to use a scar removal cream, such as Scar zone or Mederma on the keloid itself until the raised tissue is flattened out. The keloid may scab and fall off or a small amount of blood may occur as it begins to fall off. This is not totally uncommon."

I have snakebites, and I had a keloid once on the right piercing. My piercer told me to get a bottle of baby aspirin, and dissolve some in a little bit of water and soak the piercing in it. I'd repeat the process on a regular basis until the keloid finally went away.

What exactly does the baby aspirin do? How many aspirin's did you use? Where did you find the other information? When I looked almost every page said that there was nothing I could do to get rid of it.

P.s. How long did it take to get rid of yours? Because mine's not that big.

I'm not quite sure what it is exactly that the baby aspirin has in it to help, but I know it does. This is what the sheet my piercer wrote for me says:

Dissolve 1/4 teaspoon of crushed up baby aspirin into an 8 ounce cup of warm water in a clean cup. Seal it on the area and soak directly for 2-3 minutes. Rinse with water. Repeat twice a day for 2 weeks. You can do this soak before your daily cleanings.

I found that other information at http://www.temperedskin.com/tipsandfaqs.htm.

Mine wasn't very big either. It went away after about a week or two.

Thank you so much for your help!! You have no idea how much I appreciate this! I really didn't want to have to give up my piercing.
