The problem is that a lot of Hispanic men that are of our generation are Americanized and I feel like they didn't necessarily inherit this trait.

Well when you read into the defensiveness of American women, you also have to look at the culture and societal dangers we, as women face. Abduction, rape, and murder are things we get warned about frequently while growing up.
But I agree with you - it is nice to get that sort of attention.

ya that is SO true. american guys rarely ever show appreciation. i notice that a lot at the frat parties here, theres these weird looking guys dancing/hooking up with girls that are WAY too hot for them, and they still treat them like shit.
