After my first semester of vet tech school, I decided to be ambitious and all that and spend time observing at a vet clinic. My first day there, an advanced case of heartworm, a German Shepherd, came in. Poor thing was breathing up foamy blood. The owner had refused testing for years, and then when they did test and the dog came up positive, the owner refused treatment--until now. Now, they want the vet to help the dog. *headwallx1000* One of the techs showed me the dog's blood under the scope so I could learn what microfilaria look like. I would have had to have been blind to miss them, because there was the occasional red blood cell here and there among the little buggers.
