Управление по контролю за пищевыми продуктами и лекарственными препаратами США Food and Drug Administration (FDA) провело проверку на содержание свинца в витаминах.
Из 324 продуктов свинца не было лишь в 4 (NF Formulas Liquid Pediatric, Natrol Liquid Kids Companion Liquid, Twinlab Infant Care, After Baby Boost).
И это - США. Какова обстановка с витаминами и иными добавками в других странах, на что ещё они не были проверены, на что идут производители в своей конкурентной борьбе, в стремлении разукрасить попривлекательнее, закупить подешевле, какова доля полезностей в этих продуктах и степень опасности - это вопрос.
In early 2007, FDA became aware of reports of elevated lead levels in certain vitamins, which became an issue of concern to FDA, Congress, and the public. This survey was conducted to determine the content of lead (Pb) in vitamins labeled for women and children. The Pb content of 324 multivitamin-mineral products purchased over the Internet was determined using microwave assisted nitric acid digestion and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry.

Of the FDA's 325 multivitamins tested, only four contained zero traces of lead. These were:
1. NF Formulas Liquid Pediatric
2. Natrol Liquid Kids Companion Liquid
3. Twinlab Infant Care
